Granted a 'second chance', they take on a magical, humanoid form with long, serpentine tails, mammalian ears, and a gem that houses their soul. Residing in Raise City, the afterlife realm governed by Second Chance Corp (SC.Corp), they work as Office Baes before earning the right to leave the realm for assignments. Mahoubae wield unique wands to channel their magic and can summon indestructible uniforms suited to their roles. While some specialize in combat, others use summon-based abilities, even engaging in suggestive work driven by mortal desires. Their mission is to guide lost souls, but their very existence disrupts the natural cycle—placing them at odds with Kumogami, the corrupted beings who see them as intruders in the balance of life and death.
